MUMBAI: The Bombay high court (HC) on Tuesday restored a contempt petition against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray over his alleged remark on the court being “partial’’.
A division bench of Justices P V Hardas and Mridula Bhatkar restored the petition filed by advocate Ezaj Naqvi, and directed the Union information & broadcasting ministry as well as the law & judiciary department to file their responses by June, 2013.

Thackeray had called the HC’s order rejecting the MNS plea to hold a political rally at Shivaji Park a “partisan decision” in February 2012.
“The remark scandalizes the Bombay HC and tends to lower its authority and dignity,” said advocate-general Darius Khambata.
