MUMBAI:
Shiv Sena MP
Sanjay Raut on Sunday hit out at BJP's
Devendra Fadnavis saying that being forced to accept the deputy chief minister's post was the real earthquake in his life and having to work under chief minister
Eknath Shinde, his "junior", was the real fruit of his karma.
Raut in his weekly column Rok Thok in Sena mouthpiece Saamna said Fadnavis was stopped by Delhi leaders and that there was no friendship between him and
Amit Shah.
"Fadnavis's leap to become chief minister again was stopped by Delhi leaders and Shinde was given power. This is a shock for Fadnavis. Fadnavis was the one-sided leader of Maharashtra BJP, but Amit Shah and Fadnavis were not friends," Raut said.
He said Fadnavis pleaded not to be made Dy CM and for the post to be given to Chandrakant Patil. Raut said Fadnavis asked to be made BJP state chief, but it was not done.
"[I]t is time for Fadnavis to work under Shinde ... once his own junior minister ... . These are the fruits of his own karma. He did not accept the 50-50 formula of power in 2019 and this led to the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister for 2.5 years and now the post has been given to the rebel Shiv Sainik ... Shinde by the BJP high command. This is the revenge of time on Fadnavis," Raut said.
Raut said the real earthquake took place not when Sena MLAs rebelled but nine days after that. "There was an earthquake ... and such an earthquake had never happened in politics. The entire media was crediting Fadnavis as the mastermind behind Shinde's revolt, but the truth was different. The revolt was orchestrated directly by Delhi's facilitators and the BJP in Maharashtra was in complete darkness about it," Raut said.
