MUMBAI: The city police have arrested a 24-year-old man, who sent a phishing mail to an employee of Aditya Birla Group impersonating Neerja Birla, the wife of the group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. The accused was nabbed from Tamil Nadu.

The accused also sought the WhatsApp numbers of the corporate group's employees and other details with the intention to cheat them, police said. The accused, identified as Bulethar Arogom, was nabbed by Gamdevi police and booked under Section 500 (defamation) of the IPC and the Information Technology Act. According to the police, an Aditya Birla Group employee had lodged a complaint on June 7 last year after she received an email from an email ID that was identifical to Neerja Birla's email ID.
