Mumbai New Updates: City reports 575 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours

The financial capital saw 529 infections on Monday, pushing the caseload to 7,17,108. Now, there are 15,550 active cases in the city. Also, Dharavi on Monday recorded zero COVID-19 cases. The Bombay High Court on Monday gave the Maharashtra government time till June 22 to take an appropriate decision on door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination for the elderly and disabled. Meanwhile, it will no longer be mandatory in Maharashtra for candidates to crowd up at the RTOs to get a learner's driving licence - it will now be available online, sitting at home. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday launched the first-ever Online Learner's Licence system, based on the Aadhaar card.

IMD predicts 'intense spells of rains' in Mumbai's Colaba, CST and Worli areas for the next 2-3 hours
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai has predicted 'intense spells of rains' in Mumbai for the next two to three hours today (June 15). Head of SID at the Climate Research and Services Pune, K. S. Hosalikar tweeted, "Mumbai, there is a possibility of some intense spells of rains mainly towards city side, Colaba, CST, Worli and adjoining parts for coming two-three hours. Till yesterday, 2 crores 62 lakh 28 thousand 451 citizens were vaccinated in Maharashtra. On 14 June, 2,92,140 beneficiaries were vaccinated.

Petrol, diesel prices remain unchanged today

The Oil marketing companies paused the hike in fuel prices on Tuesday providing respite to people already burdened with all time high petrol and diesel retail rates. Accordingly, the price of petrol continues to remain at Rs 96.41 per litre and diesel at Rs 87.28 per litre in Delhi.

Thane: The city police arrested a 37-year-old small-time Marathi actor on Sunday for allegedly posting defamatory content about Thane guardian minister and cabinet minister Eknath Shinde on social media. Police said the accused has been identified as Mayuresh Kotkar, resident of Balkum in Thane. Based on a complaint by Sena corporator Yogesh Jankar, police have registered a case against the accused.

An FIR has been registered at Mumbai's Meghwadi Police Station, Powai against three men for allegedly raping a female assistant police inspector.In a statement issued on Monday, police said the main accused raped the female assistant police inspector on the pretext of marriage and recorded the act to blackmail her."The main accused hails from Aurangabad. He came in contact with the woman cop through a social networking site and they developed a relationship. The accused came to the Powai area in Mumbai to meet the victim and promised to marry her. The accused then allegedly captured their intimate moments between them in a video and later started harassing and blackmailing her along with his two friends," the police statement said. (ANI)

Maharashtra: Biker falls into nullah, dies
An unidentified motorcycle rider died after he fell into a nullah near a mall here in Maharashtra on Tuesday morning, a civic official said. A Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) official said the incident occurred around 6 am in the Wagle Estate area and it seems the rider was drunk.His body was fished out by Fire Department personnel, the official said.
