Mumbai: After 2024 losses, Shiv Sena’s Yamini Jadhav wins in Byculla, eyes plum BMC posting
Mumbai: After losing the 2024 Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Shiv Sena candidate and former MLA Yamini Jadhav won the BMC election. Already a former Corporator and wife of former civic Standing Committee Chairman Yashwant Jadhav, Yamini is now seeking a plum post in the BMC from the Eknath Shinde-led Sena. Yamini contested the BMC election from Ward No 209 in Byculla on a Sena ticket. "We never feared defeat in the Lok Sabha and assembly polls. We were confident that we would win the BMC elections. We thank CM Devendra Fadnavis and DCM Eknath Shinde for trusting us and showing confidence in us. People voted for the development done by the MahaYuti govt. We are not expecting anything, and we will follow the orders given by the party. I took up all the issues that matter to the people of Byculla, so I will continue doing so," Yamini Jadhav said.

"We thank the people of Byculla for making us win and supporting us. Now the Sena must recognise the work done by us and give us some responsibility to work. The party must do justice to us. There were a lot of people who worked against us, and we won against all odds. So it is high time the party gives us our due. Genuine workers must be recognised," said Yashwant Jadhav.Sena functionaries said Yamini would now try to become Chairperson of a statutory civic committee, given her seniority as a Corporator and former MLA. In Worli, the wife of former Sena Corporator Datta Narwankar, Vanita Narwankar, won from Ward No 197. Vanita is one of the only Shinde Sena candidates to win from Worli, which is the constituency of Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray.
