Minor kills 18-year-old nephew after spat over Ludo

Kalyan: A 17-year-old boy from Nepal allegedly murdered his 18-year-old nephew in his sleep following a spat over a game of digital Ludo in Kalyan early on Wednesday. The minor has been detained.

Police said the minor and his nephew, Gokul Bhim Nepali, worked at a dhaba in Kalyan’s Umbarde Kolivli, along with two other Nepalese nationals. After dinner, the four decided to unwind by playing Ludo on a mobile phone around 2am. Gokul objected to a move made by the minor in the game, which led to an argument. As the spat escalated into a fight, the co-workers intervened and managed to calm the two of them down. All four then went to sleep.

Police said a little later, the minor woke up, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and slit Gokul’s throat while he was asleep. The co-workers rushed Gokul to a hospital nearby, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

ACP Ashok Honmane said further investigation is underway.
