Man arrested for emailing hoax bomb threats in Mumbai

Mumbai: A 28-year-old man, wanted in connection with sending emails threatening bomb threats at schools, the stock exchange, and metro stations in Mumbai, was arrested by Gujarat Police. Dindoshi Police in Mumbai will now seek his custody for issuing threats to establishments in their jurisdiction in the Malad-Goregaon belt. Police are still probing the motive behind making these threats, which all turned out to be hoaxes.Police said the accused had emails all over the country threatening bomb blasts at establishments and installations in Delhi, Punjab, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, etc. He was arrested by Ahmedabad cyber police on March 1.
In the Dindoshi case, the accused sent emails on Feb 26 threatening that bombs would go off at schools, the stock exchange, and metro stations. All the premises were thoroughly checked, but nothing untoward was found. A case was registered under provisions of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are probing whether the emails were sent as a prank.
