MUMBAI: The state government on Friday reconstituted the high-powered committee to resolve the row over Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute. Chief minister Eknath Shinde will be the new chairperson of the committee. Union minister Narayan Rane, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, NCP president Sharad Pawar, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, leaders of opposition Ajit Pawar and Ambadas Danve, state cabinet members Chandrakant Dada Patil, Suresh Khade, Tanaji Sawant, Ravindra Chavan, Deepak Kesarkar, Shamburaj Desai and former legislator Rajesh Kshirsagar are the other members of the committee.

The high-powered committee was set up on May 26, 2014, it was reconstituted on May 2, 2020, under the leadership Uddhav Thackeray and again reconstituted on June 30, 2022.

The border dispute is as old as the reorganization of states. It pertains to an area of 7,000 km along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border, with 814 villages.
