MUMBAI: Eight years after a 48-year-old woman died during treatment in Sion Hospital, the police have booked two doctors for causing death by negligence.

The Sion police booked Dr Harshal Thadsare and Dr Deepali Jadhav under section 304A of the IPC. The police filed the case after receiving a report from JJ Hospital recently.

A senior officer said that the woman, Ayesha Shaikh, a resident of Nargis Dutt Nagar in Bandra, was brought by her sons to the Sion Hospital for treatment in August 2014. She was to be taken for an MRI scan. Since she was restless, she was examined by one of the two doctors booked.

To calm her down, a doctor administered three injections through saline. She then became unconscious, said police. The doctor allegedly did not tell the family about the injections. When she did not wake up after the MRI, she was taken to ICU where she died, said police.
