MUMBAI: A six-year-old student of Kandivli's Gujarati Medium School had to be rushed to Bhagwati Hospital on Tuesday after a piece of food got lodged in her foodpipe. The girl, Roshni Vasava, had eaten khichdi that was served as part of the mid-day meal scheme. A piece of rajma got stuck in her foodpipe and she started crying in pain. Doctors managed to remove the foodgrain. Roshni is stable and will be discharged in a couple of days, doctors said.Bhagwati Hospital doctors on Tuesday night performed an oral surgery on Roshni Vasava, resident of Hindustan Naka in Thakur Village, to remove the piece of rajma that was lodged in the opening of her food pipe. On Tuesday afternoon, Roshni started crying continuously after recess. "She was in a lot of pain and could not immediately explain what had happened to her. Later she hinted that something was stuck in her throat as she was trying to cough the rajma out," said Kiran Joshi, principal of the school. Roshni was rushed to the by the teachers. "After her detailed examination, we learnt that she was choking because of the piece of rajma. We had to put her on general anaesthesia to perform the oral surgery," said Dr Rajesh Yadav, an ENT surgeon. Roshni is now stable and she will be discharged in a couple of days.
