One dead as police team shot at; assailant gunned down
MEERUT: A biker shot at a police phantom team at 2 am on Tuesday, killing one constable and injuring another in Lisari gate area. Another police team reached the spot and managed to gun down Noor Ali, the assailant.
The entire police department gathered at Police Lines to pay their last respects to constable Ekant Yadav.
According to the police, the incident took place while the phantom team was conducting a routine check on Fataullah road.

When they saw a suspicious-looking man on a bike, they signaled him to stop. When he sped past them, they chased him and alerted the police station. The biker lost his balance and fell. When the cops tried to apprehend him, he took out a pistol and fired at them. Yadav succumbed to his injuries in Anand Hospital while constable Lokesh Bharti is critically injured.
Ali had several cases registered against him at Kankerkhera police station.
