Meerut: A 28-year-old woman was gang-raped by two men after her husband sold her to them for just Rs 1,000 at a village in Budaun district recently. The two accused were arrested on Wednesday.
In her police complaint, the woman said her husband, a daily wager, took her out on the pretext of processing LPG gas connection documents on Feb 6. On the way, they encountered two men and her husband allegedly struck a deal with them and handed her over to them for Rs 1,000. They then took her to a forest area and took turns to rape her. She somehow managed to escape from their clutches and returned home.
When she confronted her husband, he allegedly admitted to selling her for money. Due to weakness from the assault, she was unable to report the crime to police that day and filed a complaint on Feb 8, following which a case of gang-rape and criminal conspiracy was registered. SP (Rural) Budaun Hridesh Kumar said, "We had arrested the husband the same day. A probe is on."
