Farmer kills mother after being scolded for throwing litter in UP's Baghpat

MEERUT: A 27-year-old man, a farmer, allegedly stabbed his 55-year-old mother to death after she scolded him for littering the lane while cleaning a drain in the vicinity of his house. The incident took place at Tugana village under Chhaprauli police station area of Baghpat on Saturday.

According to police, Mahkawati Devi, the mother of the accused Rahul Singh, objected to his dumping of sewage waste on the road causing inconvenience to the locals. She apparently scolded him. This angered Rahul, who in retaliation, got a knife from his house and allegedly stabbed her to death in a fit of rage. One of the passersby, identifed as Omvir Singh, informed the polic about the incident and lodged a complaint.

The police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem . Superintendent of police (SP) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said the accused Rahul Singh has been arrested.

He added, that a case under section 302 (murder) has been registered against the accused in the matter.
