Bijnor: A five-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 12 lakh was rescued by police within six hours, officials said on Sunday. Three accused – including a relative of the child – were arrested soon after the rescue.
The boy, Vivian Kumar, an LKG student, was watching videos on a mobile phone outside his home when he suddenly went missing. Shortly afterwards, his mother received a call from an unknown number demanding Rs 12 lakh for the child's release and threatening harm if police were informed.
SP Amit Kumar Anand said, "Investigations revealed that the kidnappers were motivated by greed for the insurance money the family had received after the child's father's death."
Vivian's father, Avneesh, an engineer working in Noida, died in a road accident in 2021. Since then, the child has been living with his mother, Dolly Yadav, and his elder brother.
