Boy, 17, shoots aunt dead in Meerut village, surrenders
Meerut: A 17-year-old boy allegedly shot dead his 32-year-old aunt at a village under Hastinapur police station of Meerut on Thursday. He later surrendered at the local police station. Circle officer Pankaj Lavaneya said the accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned.Police said the teenager entered his aunt's room with a pistol while other family members were busy with their daily chores and fired two shots at her temple. The aunt collapsed and succumbed to her injuries before family members could rush to help her.Relatives said the accused and his aunt often argued over minor issues, and the long-standing tension between them is believed to have resulted in the attack.Police recovered a country-made pistol and an empty cartridge from the accused.At the time of the incident, her husband had gone to the market. He said he received a phone call informing him that his nephew had shot his wife. The couple had a six-month-old son.Police said the accused boy's father serves in the Army, while his uncle is a farmer. The accused teenager was preparing for Agniveer recruitment.
