3 killed, over a dozen injured in bus collision on Badaun-Meerut highway
Meerut: Three people died and more than a dozen were injured, four of them critically, after a private bus carrying wedding guests collided head-on with a state-run roadways bus near the Abdullaganj cut under Ujhani police station limits on the Badaun–Meerut highway on Sunday.The private bus, carrying around 30 passengers, was returning to Nagla Bhamma in Kasganj from a wedding in Barakalan village in Shahjahanpur when the roadways bus, allegedly coming from the wrong side, rammed into it. The impact severely damaged the driver's side of the wedding bus.Police teams from Ujhani and Civil Lines police stations reached the spot and shifted the injured to Badaun govt medical college, where doctors declared three persons dead on arrival. The deceased were identified as Krishna, 14, Sonu Singh, 21 and Yogesh Kumar, 35. Four critically injured persons were referred to Bareilly for advanced treatment, while others were undergoing treatment.SP (rural) Hirdesh Katheriya said, "The area where the accident occurred is a blind spot. Both buses have been seized and an investigation is underway. No complaint has been received so far. Both the drivers are undergoing treatment under police custody."
In a separate incident, three members of a family were killed and three others, including a two-year-old child, were critically injured after their car crashed into a tree on the Delhi highway in Bareilly late Saturday night.Police said the family was returning home after attending a wedding in Mansurganj village when the accident took place. The impact left the vehicle completely mangled. The deceased were identified as Moni, 30, her father-in-law Khemkaran, 60, and Ramgulam, 85, all residents of Kalyanpur in Rampur district. Moni's husband Govind, their son and an uncle sustained critical injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Rampur.
