Meerut: A 55-year-old man died, and five others were critically injured after a car overturned on the Bulandshahr–Sambhal highway in the Jahangirabad police station area of Bulandshahr early Wednesday.
Police said the accident occurred around 5.45 am when the occupants were asleep. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver may have dozed off, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn several times.
Rural SP Tejveer Singh said all six occupants were residents of Badaun district and were returning from a wedding in Faridabad. Sevaram (55), a resident of Mahvasai village in the Bisoli area of Badaun, was declared dead by doctors at a nearby govt hospital.
The injured were first taken to the Jahangirabad Community Health Centre and later referred to the district hospital. "Families have been informed, and further investigation is underway," said SP Singh.
