Motorcyclist killed after being run over by tipper truck
Udupi/Mangaluru: A motorcyclist died on the spot after a tipper truck allegedly hit and ran over him while attempting to overtake on a road near Ganganadu in Byndoor on Wednesday. The deceased is Mahabala Poojary,51.
According to police, the complainant stated that the driver of the tipper truck identified as Ramesh, was driving from Ganganadu towards Byndoor in a rash and negligent manner. While attempting to overtake a motorcycle which was travelling in the same direction, the truck moved to the left and collided with the motorcycle.
Due to the impact, the rider, Mahabala Poojary, fell on the road with the motorcycle. The rear wheel of the tipper truck ran over his head, causing severe head injuries, resulting in his death at the spot. In this connection, Byndoor police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligent act) of the BNS.
Woman pilgrim dies en route to hospital after falling ill at Dharmasthala
A woman from Haveri district died while being shifted to a govt hospital after complaining of chest pain during a pilgrimage to Dharmasthala. The deceased is Shaila.
According to a complaint filed by Saroja, a resident of Ranebennur in Haveri, she, along with her husband, her elder sister Shaila, and her grandson, travelled by bus from Bengaluru on the night of June 2, and arrived at Dharmasthala on June 3, for darshan.
Around 12.30 pm, Shaila complained of chest pain and said that she was feeling weak and exhausted. She was immediately taken to the Dharmasthala Primary Health Centre for treatment. As doctors advised further medical care, she was shifted in an ambulance to the govt hospital in Belthangady.
However, while en route to the hospital, Shaila died, reportedly due to a heart attack or some pre-existing illness. In this connection, Dharmasthala police have registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS.
