MANGALURU: The Mangaluru Police has arrested three people in connection with Abdul Jaleel murder case.
Jaleel was hacked to death in front of his shop in Surathkal on December 24.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar told reporters that the arrested will be produced before the court and the police will seek their custody for further investigation into the case.
Of the arrested, two are the assailants and another was the one who dropped them on his bike to Surathkal after the incident.
The police are in search of a few more people in connection with the incident.
The police are questioning 10 to 12 people, including women in the murder case.
The victim’s family has demanded a comprehensive and impartial probe into the murder. The motive behind the murder is yet to be established.
“We will investigate those who are behind the incident. A detailed investigation will bring out the motive,” said the Commissioner.
Two of the assailants have criminal antecedents and they were involved in a murder attempt reported at the Surathkal police station in 2021.
