Imams Council urges PM to rebuild Babri Masjid, punish the guilty
Mangaluru: On the 24th anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid, the All India
Council state general secretary Moulana Jafar Sadiq Faizi told reporters on Monday that a memorandum will be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the government to rebuild Babri Masjid at the same spot, where it was existing prior to the demolition. “We urge the Prime Minister not only to rebuild Babri Masjid, but also punish those who demolished it. We also urge the government to implement the recommendations in the report of the Liberhan Ayodhya Commission of Inquiry,” Faizi said.
Calling December 6, 1992, as ‘black day in the history of India’, Faizi said, “The demolition of Babri Masjid is the second brutal act after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.”
He opined that the demolition of Babri Masjid was a severe blow to the democracy and the Constitution of India. “The central government, Uttar Pradesh government, army, police and courts witnessed the demolition of Babri Masjid, where Muslims were praying for 464 years. After the demolition, the then Congress government promised to rebuild the masjid, but they failed to keep their words. It is the responsibility of the government to rebuild the masjid at the same place,” Faizi noted.
He said that the Liberhan Commission report has identified the masterminds and perpetrators of the Babri Masjid demolition. “Though the Liberhan Commission has identified in its inquiry report the masterminds and perpetrators of the Babri Masjid demolition, the government has failed to take action against them. Moreover, those who are identified in the report have been elevated to top positions in the nation.
Meanwhile, it is unfortunate that the case still remains pending in the court without any conclusion. People in the nation are eagerly waiting for justice,” he added.
