BCom student duped of 51,000 in job scam

Mangaluru: A BCom student of a private college was allegedly cheated of Rs 51,000 by individuals linked to a company that offered her a part-time data-entry job and later forced her to buy products under the guise of business training.In her complaint, she said a woman named Navya approached her in early Jan, introduced herself as an employee of Vexon Company, and claimed she could earn Rs 15,000–Rs 30,000 a month by working from 2pm to 5pm on software and data-entry tasks. Navya also told her to pay Rs 2,500 towards accommodation and food during training.
The student paid the amount and joined training at the company's office on the third floor of a five-storey building in Kudroli, along with other job aspirants.During training, the accused told her she had to "do business" by purchasing products worth Rs 51,000 and said she would earn commissions if she recruited others to buy similar products. She arranged Rs 51,000 through GPay and later claimed the products were of poor quality and not worth the amount.She alleged the accused falsely promised software and data-entry jobs and instead pressured her and others to buy products and recruit more people. They allegedly brainwashed them, exerted mental pressure, and forcibly took their signatures on documents.Mangaluru East police have registered a case.
