Madurai: Dindigul MP R Sachithanantham has lauded Thirupurankundram residents for rejecting extremist provocations and maintaining secular peace during the recent issue over the lighting of the deepathoon. Sachithanantham and Rahim also invoked the legacy of Bhagat Singh to critique the current govt's historical narrative and its "mask of patriotism".They also condemned the privatisation of national assets like railways and ports, the "contractualisation" of defence through the Agni veer scheme, and the exclusionary barriers created by the New Education Policy and NEET. Sachithanantham called for youth to mobilise for a secular, socialist India that ensures permanent employment, dignity for labour, and the fundamental right to education for all. Rahim called for the continuous activism of the DYFI and similar groups against groups such as RSS that allegedly sought to harm the religious sentiments of many communities across the country.
