Madurai: The chief judicial magistrate court in Madurai summoned the then Manamadurai DSP Shanmugasundaram, then Thiruppuvanam inspector of police Rameshkumar, then sub-inspector Sivakumar, and then head constable Ilayaraja, who were additionally named as accused in the case pertaining to the custodial death of the Madapuram temple security guard B Ajith Kumar in Thiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district.
After taking on file the supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI, chief judicial magistrate K Selvapandi summoned the four accused police personnel to appear before the court on Feb 25.

It may be recalled that Ajith Kumar, who was working at the Batharakaliamman temple at Madapuram, died during custodial interrogation on June 28, 2025.
Initially, the CBI filed the final report before the 5th additional district and sessions court in Madurai against six police personnel. Subsequently, CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet naming four more police personnel—Shanmugasundaram, Rameshkumar, Sivakumar, and Ilayaraja—as accused in the case.
