district on Saturday morning. The deceased L Jenis, 19, from a fisherman family, was studying Marine Engineering in a Chennai college. "He was on the way to home to spend the weekend. His friend Ramis had picked him up in a two-wheeler from Nagercoil. While the boys were on the way to Colachel, a truck hit them when the two-wheeler attempted to overtake a bus," a police officer said. Jenis was killed on the spot while Ramis, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the Colachel Government Hospital.

self-help groups not to be lured by fraudulent agencies promising loans. "Of late, it has been observed that agencies are advertising in media about providing loans to women and women SHGs. In order to dispense loans, they insist the beneficiaries to deposit cash in bank accounts and snap all ties once the money is deposited. Women SHGs are asked to inform the district collector's office if they come across any such agencies," a release said. It also warned against giving passbooks and ATM details to such people.
