Ludhiana SHO skips training session; gets suspended.
Ludhiana: A station house officer (SHO) has been suspended and faces a departmental inquiry following allegations of misconduct and a refusal to complete mandatory training.City's police commissioner, Swapan Sharma, ordered the immediate suspension of sub-inspector Aditya Sharma, the SHO of Sarabha Nagar police station, citing indiscipline and professional misconduct. The disciplinary action stems from a three-day departmental training programme. Under police regulations, participation certificates are only issued upon the completion of all three sessions. 03:13
Official documents indicate SI Sharma missed the initial training due to law-and-order duties. While department policy allows officers to make up missed sessions in a secondary batch, Sharma allegedly bypassed these requirements. The suspension order takes note of certificate demand, refusal of duty, and insubordination.Sharma reportedly insisted on receiving a participation certificate despite failing to attend the second batch of training. He allegedly refused to participate in a required mock session, claiming he felt "insulted" by the initial denial of the certificate. When directed to discuss the matter with the Commissioner, Sharma reportedly told a superior inspector he would rather face suspension or dismissal than attend the training sessions.Additional deputy commissioner of police (investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar has been appointed to lead the formal departmental inquiry into the incident. SI Sharma, the son of a high-ranking police official who died several years ago, is no stranger to administrative scrutiny. He has previously been the subject of controversy and was named in prior legal cases during his tenure.
