LUDHIANA: Two days after a revenue officer (Patwari) was attacked by four assailants in his office at Punjab's Thareeke village, Ludhiana police arrested all the accused.
According to police, the main accused had hired four assailants to attack the officer as he wanted to return to his place of posting from where he was transferred and the victim was posted in his place.
The arrested accused persons were identified as
Jaspreet Singh
(37), a Patwari from Jawaddi Khurd village,
Happy Singh (25) of
Saharanpur
in UP and now at
Shimlapuri
, Jaswinder Singh (30) and Jagjeet Singh (31), both of Shimlapuri. The accused who are yet to be arrested include Bunty of Shimlapuri, Pavneet Singh of Dugri and Navneet Singh of Shimlapuri.
Giving details, Ludhiana police commissioner
Rakesh Aggarwal
said that following the attack on Deepak Singla of Sardulgarh in Mansa in his place of posting at Thareeke on the first day of his new place of posting, Sadar police had registered a case.
He added that the footage of Safe city project before and after the incident was scanned and the accused were identified.
Police officials said Jaspreet Singh was posted as Patwari in Thareeke Patwarkhana for a long time and Deepak Singla had got himself transferred from Sidhwan Bet circle to Thareeke whereas Jaspreet was posted at Mullanpur Dakha.
They added that Jaspreet discussed the matter with his partner in property business Pavneet Singh Dugri who talked about it with his brother Navneet and then they hatched a conspiracy to remove Deepak.
Cops said that Navneet then roped in Happy and Jaswinder, who work in an adjoining shop for Rs 30,000, and planned the attack. They added that Pavneet and Navneet then carried out recce of Deepak and later brought Bunty and Jagjeet for attack on the later.
The police officer said that Happy, Jaswinder, Bunty and Jagjeet then attacked Deepak at his place of work and after he ran out and raised an alarm, the assailants ran away with weapons on motorcycles. He added that Jaspreet Singh got Deepak attacked as the later had got himself transferred to Thareeke and Jaspreet wanted to get posted back there.
