Khanna police bust drug racket, seize crystal meth, opium, and heroin

Ludhiana: Khanna police claimed to have busted a drug peddling racket with the arrest of two traffickers. The police seized 1.5 kg of ice (methamphetamine), 1 kg of opium, and 10 grams of heroin from their possession. The accused have been identified as 33-year-old Vicky of Meat Market, Khanna, currently residing in Kartar Nagar, and 27-year-old Sukhman Singh of Satguru Ram Singh Avenue, Amritsar, presently living in Kharar, Mohali.Sharing details, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Khanna Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains said on the night of July 1, a police team from City-2 police station was patrolling near Prem Bhandari Park when they stopped a suspicious clean-shaven youth, later identified as Vicky. On searching him, police recovered 10 grams of heroin from his possession, after which a case was registered against the accused under sections of the NDPS Act at Khanna City 2 police station. She added that during Vicky's in-depth interrogation, it came to light that he procured drugs at a lower price from Sukhman Singh.Police said that Sukhman used to come in a Cruze car and hand over the narcotic powder at the gate of the Shivjot Apartment. They added that several other youths also came to him to buy different types of narcotics.The SSP said based on this information, Sukhman was nominated as an accused in the case, and a section of the NDPS Act was added. She added that following this, a raid was conducted, and the accused Sukhman was apprehended from the gate of Shivjyot Apartment, Kharar, along with his car. A police officer said the police recovered 1kg of opium wrapped in a black envelope and 1.5 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine) in a transparent packet from the conductor seat of the vehicle. The cop suggested that police seized the car after the recovery.The cops said that police are trying to ascertain the backward and forward linkages. They added that it is suspected that the consignment came from across the border.As per police, Vicky has a drug-related case against him at Khanna City 1 police station on Sept 30 last year, whereas Sukhman doesn't have a previous criminal record.In June 2022, the Ludhiana unit of the Special Task Force (STF) recovered 20.8 kg of ice (amphetamine) with the arrest of two accused in Ludhiana city.
