Family protests after fatal car crash; police cite logistical issues
Ludhiana: Family members of 24-year-old Laal ji Morya, who was run over by a high-end car, staged a protest on Wednesday morning after noticing the BMW car of the accused parked near a filling station instead of being taken to a police station. The distraught relatives alleged that the police had deliberately not confiscated the vehicle and were trying to help the accused. Police officials rejected the allegation, saying the car could not be moved immediately due to logistical issues after the crash.Investigating officer, ASI Jatinder Singh of Sadar police station said police "struggled a lot" to lift the car following the accident. He said a crane could not be arranged on Tuesday night and the vehicle tyres were locked, preventing quick removal. By the time police arranged a crane, it was Wednesday afternoon. However, it could only bring the car to a nearby filling station, where it was kept on the roadside. He said the family "suspected something else," but maintained that a case had already been registered and the accused arrested.
