3 dead, 2 hospitalised after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning sewage tank at Ludhiana factory
LUDHIANA: Three men, including a father-son duo, died after inhaling toxic gas at a hand tools manufacturing unit located at RK road in Ludhiana in the wee hours of Monday. Two other factory workers, who are unconscious, have been admitted to the hospital.The deceased are Maan Singh, his son Amit amd and the worker of the factory Shri Ram.The incident ocurred when the victims had opened a sewage, where effluent is filled, to clean it.Deputy commissioner of police-rural, Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said, "spanners are made in the factory. The effluent is stored in a sewage which was to be cleaned. Maan Singh and Amit were called for the job and three other factory workers were assigned to help the duo. As soon as they opened the sewage, they inhaled toxic gas. They collapsed at the spot and were rushed to a nearby hospital where three were declared dead. The condition of the other two workers is stable."He added, the police are registering a case at Moti Nagar police station.
