LUCKNOW: All big and small temples in city are gearing up for 9-day Navratri celebrations beginning Sunday.

At Chandrika Devi temple, a navratri mela will be organised and free food served to all daily. The temple will be decorated with coloured lights and flowers, said general secretary of the temple trust Atul Kumar.

"There are proper security and medical arrangements made for the devotees in case of any emergency. There will be an Odissi dance performance by a group from Odisha on October 19 from 3pm onwards," said Kumar.

At Badi Kaliji Mandir, the Devi idol will be dressed in clothes decorated with zari and zardozi work brought from Vrindavan, Dwarka and Gujarat. Also, a necklace made of dry fruits would adorn the idol. Prasad will consist of delicacies from south, north, Gujarat and Maharashtra while chappan bhog will be served on Sunday.

"There will be about 60 sewaks from Kolkata during the puja. 4 LED screens have also been set up. People can also view the celebrations online on our social media pages," said temple priest, Mahant Hansananda.

The celebrations at Kalibari will begin with Chandi Path on Saturday. Directed by Kaveri Banerjee it will be rendered by Indrajeet Mitra. Sandhi puja will be organised from 4.54-5.42 pm on October 22, said president of trust, Abhijeet Sarkar.
