LUCKNOW : In what was a devastating double tragedy for a family, one person died and four others got injured in an accident while they were returning home from a hospital carrying the body of another family member. Police said that the accident took place in front of Vrindavan police outpost under SGPGI police station around 11.45pm when Sunil Nigam, a resident of Saadatganj locality, was returning home with his family members in his Nano car from a hospital.
An ambulance carrying the body of his brother Srawan Nigam, who had died in anearby hospital the same evening, was following them. The car collided with an SUV. Srawan’s 45-year-old sister Varsha Nigam died on the spot while four other members of the family sustained injuries. “While Varsha was declared brought dead by the ho spital authorities, others are undergoing treatment at Trauma centre in SGPGI,” said police.
According to police, when their car reached near the police outpost, it was hit head on by another SUV damaging the car. “As soon as the accident took place, police reached the spot and victims were sent to hospital with the help of locals,” said SHO, PGI BC Tiwari. Those injured included Sunil Nigam, Archana Nigam, Lata Srivastava, Aakash Srivastava, and Jitendra Nigam.
