Power theft: More hackers of Chinese meters nabbed

LUCKNOW: Knowledge of electronics andhelp from the Lesa staff, both worked in self-styled engineer SushilKumar’s favour when he set out to accomplish the apparently easy enoughtask to tamper with the ‘fool-proof’ Chinese electronicmeters.After learning about the unique methodology, SP vigilancesquad SK Singh and DSP LK Dixit, CO enforcement, Lucknow zone, arrested Kumarand thereafter, started raiding the marked locations. On Tuesday, Dixit, alongwith executive engineers I Shekh, Randhir Singh, S Ahmad, assistant engineers RKSharma and RS Mathur raided three houses belonging to relatives of a Lesaemployee SP Singh. It was found during the raid that the house NoC-2021 in Rajajipuram was using a domestic connection for a commercial purposesbesides having a three-phase connection on a single-phase meter. The team lodgeda FIR against the owner of the house at the Talkatora policestation.Meanwhile, Talkatora Industrial Estate Association (TIEA) held anemergency meeting and unanimously condemned the act of power theft by one of itsmembers. General secretary TIEA, Jawed Iqbal Siddiqui said that the membershipof the defaulter was being terminated with immediate effect.
