Portion of road in Nazarbagh caves in

Lucknow: Portion of a road in Nazarbagh, leading to Burlington Crossing, caved in late Monday night, causing major inconvenience to commuters on Tuesday and Wednesday, slowing down traffic and forcing vehicles to use only one side of the road, which was finally repaired on Wednesday. Formation of a five-foot-deep pit in the middle of the busy stretch was attributed to a damaged sewer line. Owner of a a shop near Odeon cinema, Mohammad Aadil Khan, said, "Water was leaking and later portion of road collapsed and formed a crater." Officials from LMC confirmed road collapsed due to water accumulation from a leaking 8 mm sewer pipeline running beneath it.GM of the jalkal department, Kuldeep Singh, said, "The collapse was probably triggered by ongoing hammering work related to road construction, which weakened the surface further. Following complaints from local residents, our team reached the spot immediately and began repair work by digging the affected portion of the road. The sunken area was filled within approximately three hours, though residents are currently facing dust pollution due to the temporary filling, which will be covered soon." Traffic movement between Lalbagh and Burlington remains sluggish, with congestion building up due to limited road space. Commuters have urged the authorities to ensure long-term repairs and swift road restoration to avoid further disruption.
