JAIPUR: Five days after the death of a 24-year-old woman doctor at Jaipur's SMS Hospital, police in Hisar, Haryana, began an investigation into what the family alleges was a brutal murder. Relatives of Bhawna Yadav, who reached Hisar on Monday, said the investigation into the zero FIR registered by SMS Hospital police station in Jaipur has been taken over by Civil Lines police station in Hisar.
Bhawna, who lived in Anantpura village in Behror, recently completed her medical studies in the Philippines and was preparing for post-graduate exams while staying in Rajasthan. She left for Delhi on April 21 to attend a mock test but never returned. She was found with severe burn injuries and multiple stab wounds, according to family members. She was first admitted to a hospital in Hisar and later shifted to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where she died on the night of April 24.
Family members have named Udesh Yadav, a distant relative, as a suspect. Udesh, a native of Haryana's Rewari district, lives in Hisar. and has been missing since the incident. Police have found that Udesh was in regular contact with Bhawna before the incident, and his mobile phone remains switched off since the day of the crime.
According to the family's account, Udesh allegedly called Bhawna to Hisar under some pretext, attacked her with a sharp weapon, and then set her on fire. They also said Udesh called Bhawna's mother after the attack to inform her about Bhawna's condition but behaved suspiciously during later conversations.
