Lucknow: Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Sunday said that the next edition of the KD Singh Babu Hockey Tournament will be a grand event. Inaugurating the 32nd All India KD Singh Babu Memorial (U-14) Prize Money Hockey Tournament on Sunday, the deputy CM took the lifetime membership of the KD Singh Babu Society and donated Rs 10,000 to its fund. “Next year, this tournament will find its echo across the country. ‘Babu sahib’ is famous across the world and I am like a member of the family. I will do whatever it takes to help the KD Singh Babu Society,” Pathak said.
VV Singh, son of KD Singh Babu, said: “For the first time in India, Rs 11 lakh prize money has been kept in the tournament with the help of the family, friends and society. This tournament is important to save the national game. We prepare children to win Olympic medals for the country.”
