Mercury To Show No Mercy In May
No Relief From Hot Weather Till May End: Weatherman
Lucknow: Despite slight dip in day and night temperatures, there was no mercy from the soaring mercury in the city on Friday, as hot and dry conditions continued unabated.
Worse, the weathermen predicted there will be no relief from hot weather till May end.
The maximum temperature in the city was 42.4 degree celsius, 2.2 units above normal, while the minimum was 28.8, around 3.3 units above normal.
On Thursday, Lucknow had recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius, which was the highest day temperature of this summer so far. Though Friday’s temperature was more than a degree lower, the extreme dry weather made the conditions unbearable.
“There will be no major change in the weather for at least next five days. The maximum temperatures in several UP districts, including Lucknow, will remain above 40 degrees Celisus,” said senior weather scientist Mohammad Danish.
He added that sizzling, high-speed westerly winds blowing from Rajasthan will continue to sweep across the plains, bringing extreme heat and lowering humidity.
On Saturday, city will have a clear sky with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 45 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively. Meanwhile, weather is likely to be dry with strong dust raising wind with a speed of 25-35 kmph over west Uttar Pradesh.
