UP horror: Man stabs pregnant wife to death over Rs 100; mother injured
LUCKNOW: The killer of his eight months' pregnant wife Ankur confessed that he attacked her as she refused to pay him Rs 100 for alcohol, investigators said.
The Gudamba police have sent Ankur, the accused of murdering his pregnant wife and seriously injuring his mother, to jail. During interrogation, the accused confessed to asking his wife Neelam for Rs 100 to buy alcohol. When she refused, he became enraged and attacked her with a stick kept in the room. As she ran for cover, he stabbed her seven times near the door, causing her to collapse.
Phoolkumari, mother of the accused, who was in the next room, rushed to the scene to save her. But when she tried to save Neelam, he struck her on the wrist with the sharp-edged weapon, seriously injuring her. She remains in critical condition at KGMU. The family performed the last rites of Neelam after the postmortem examination.

Originally from Fatehpur in Barabanki district, Ankur lived with his sister Chandni, wife, mother Phoolmati, brother Akash, and father Dinesh in a rented house owned by Ram Singh in Dasauli village. Ram Singh said a Vishwakarma Puja feast was underway at the house on Wednesday when around 5 pm, Ankur attacked Neelam and Phoolkumari with a stick.
He said, "Ankur, in a fit of rage, cut his mother and wife's hands with a sharp-edged weapon. His sister, Chandni, then ran outside screaming. Hearing the commotion, a crowd gathered. Upon learning of the incident, those present immediately apprehended the accused. They snatched the sickle from his hand and tied him to a pole to restrain him. He was then handed over to the police." The forensic team collected evidence from the scene.
Ram Singh said, "Ankur moved into my house with his family about two months ago. I don't know what suddenly happened today."
ACP Anindya Vikram Singh said that the accused used to demand money from the deceased which often led to minor disputes.
