LPG blackmarketing: 10 arrested in 5 days
Lucknow: At least 10 people have been arrested and 60 FIRs have been lodged in 4,816 inspections and raids conducted across the state to check blackmarketing of LPG cylinders across the state since March 12.Following directions from chief minister Yogi Adityanath, enforcement agencies have intensified action throughout the state and launched a large-scale campaign against black marketing and illegal sales, a spokesperson said.

During this period, 10 FIRs were registered against LPG distributors, while 60 FIRs were lodged against other individuals involved in LPG blackmarketing."The state govt is maintaining strict surveillance at 4,108 LPG distributorships to ensure that consumers receive gas cylinder deliveries in accordance with their bookings. Stock levels are being reviewed regularly and the availability of refills is being monitored as required," an official said.After the central govt permitted 20% allocation of commercial cylinders from total consumption, authorities are monitoring its implementation to prevent misuse.A 24-hour control room has been set up at the food and civil supplies commissioner's office to address issues related to the distribution of petroleum products, where officials have been deployed round the clock.
Officers and staff have been assigned duties at the control room established in districts to maintain continuous monitoring.District supply officers and local administrative officials are regularly conducting field visits to keep a close watch on the situation and ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG to consumers.
