MoS Mishra says son 'innocent' as he skips summons, fresh notice issued
The Uttar Pradesh Police issued a fresh notice to junior home minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish, asking him to appear before it by 11 am on Saturday in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence that left eight dead. Ashish missed his summons for Friday. Maintaining that Ashish wasn’t involved in Tikunia violence and he has ample proof to establish this, Teni said his son would present himself before the investigative agencies on Saturday.

Lakhimpur Kheri: SKM rejects UP govt SIT, inquiry commission; threatens 'rail roko' on Oct 18
Rejecting the SIT and the inquiry commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the SKM on Friday said that it will call for a nationwide 'rail roko' protest on October 18 if its demands are not fulfilled. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has been demanding that Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Mishra be sacked and his son Ashish Mishra arrested in connection with the October 3 violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Lakhimpur violence: Govt wants to hide truth, run state on might of police, says Akhilesh
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday met family members of two farmers killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and alleged that the BJP government wants to hide the truth by strangling democracy and run the state on the might of police. (ANI)
“The grieving families want justice. But the BJP does not want to shed its arrogance. Why have the named accused not been arrested till now? We are sure that the Supreme Court will ensure justice to these families. The truth will prevail and the guilty will be punished,” Akhilesh said.
The Congress on Friday demanded the immediate dismissal of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, arrest of his son Ashish and setting up of a commission of two sitting judges so that farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri violence get justice within 30 days.It also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to follow 'raj dharma' by ensuring that all those accused in the killing of farmers during the violence on Sunday are arrested. Senior Congress leader and former Law Minister Ashwani Kumar on Friday welcomed the observation made by the Supreme Court while taking suo-motu cognisance of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case and said that the court exploring an alternative investigation mechanism is a vote of no confidence in the Uttar Pradesh government investigation agency. Assuring that people involved in Lakhimpur Kheri violence will be punished, UP law minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday said the matter is sub judice and the opposition parties should not politicize the incident.
