Illegal houses of Barabanki murder accused demolished

Lucknow: The Barabanki district administration on Monday razed the houses belonging to several accused in the murder of a 20-year-old man, Mithun Rawat, from Lucknow in Barabanki's Kursi area.The action was taken after officials found that the structures were built after encroaching govt land.
Mithun was allegedly killed by a group of 11 people over an old enmity and suspicion of a love affair.Police have so far arrested seven accused and sent them to jail, while a minor involved in the crime was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Three others are still on the run.Circle officer (Fatehpur) Jagtaram Kannaujia said the arrested men were identified as Irfan alias Aghori, Rizwan, Armaan and Mohammad Javed, all residents of Durripurwa, along with Ayan and Mohammad Amir from Mullatola locality of Kursi.A joint team of revenue and police department officials reached Durripurwa village and got several temporary illegal structures demolished. Residents of permanent constructions were given two days to vacate the premises.Police said in 2019, Mithun's family had filed a case against Irfan and one of his associates for allegedly harassing his sister, a matter that was still pending in court.The dispute escalated during Holi this year when Mithun allegedly tried to speak to a girl from Irfan's family over the phone.Mithun was allegedly lured to a secluded spot where he was made to consume alcohol before being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
