Guv pushes for ‘Garbha Sanskar’ centre at RMLIMS

Lucknow: Stressing that a mother's diet, thoughts and environment directly shape the unborn child, Governor Anandiben Patel on Tuesday suggested setting up of a dedicated ‘Garbha Sanskar' centre on the RPG campus of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Shaheed Path.She made the suggestion while laying the foundation stone for a 510-bed shelter home on the RPG campus of the institute. She also inaugurated CT scan, ultrasound and X-ray facilities at the radiology diagnostic block. She said pregnant women must receive structured counselling, proper literature and guidance on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. "It can be provided by experts here for the well-being of children and women," she emphasised.
She said the proposed shelter facility would provide relief to families coming from distant districts for treatment. Clear rules should be framed to ensure priority for poor and middle-class attendants, she directed.Emphasising cleanliness and discipline, she said rooms must be left in the same condition in which they are allotted. She also instructed officials to regulate the entry of outside food and ensure strict adherence to prescribed diet plans for patients. "Clean surroundings and rule compliance help in faster recovery," she said, adding that true service to society reflects devotion.Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 24.86 crore. It will have 45 rooms with 90 beds and dormitories with 420 beds. A kitchen, dining hall, laundry and two lifts are part of the plan. He said earlier patients had to travel to other locations for essential investigations. "Now diagnosis and treatment will be available at one place," he said.Pathak said that a 1,000-bed broad specialty hospital was approved on the Shaheed Path campus. A 100-bed critical care block is under construction. Hostels with 888 rooms along with a sports complex and nursing college are also coming up.
