Tailgated the car, fired 4 rounds: How husband of Lawrence Bishnoi's lawyer escaped ambush near Delhi's Kashmere Gate temple

NEW DELHI: Unidentified assailants allegedly tailed a car carrying the husband of Lawrence Bishnoi’s lawyer and opened fire near Kashmere Gate on Tuesday night, injuring one occupant. Police said the incident occurred around 10.15pm near the Marghat Wale Hanuman Temple. According to investigators, at least four rounds were fired at the vehicle from behind. One of the occupants, identified as Sandeep, sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was rushed to hospital, and his condition is stated to be stable. Advocate Deepak Khatri, who was in the vehicle, said the group had just left the temple when the attack took place. “The car had barely moved 10–20 metres when we heard gunshots. When we looked back, shots were being fired. We immediately sped away,” Khatri said. He added that Sandeep, seated behind him, was hit by a bullet. “We stopped briefly and took him straight to hospital. I could not see the attackers clearly,” he said.Five people were inside the car at the time. Khatri’s wife, who represents Lawrence Bishnoi, was not present.Police sources said CCTV footage from the area is being analysed. Preliminary findings suggest three men on a motorcycle followed the car and fired before fleeing.A forensic team examined the scene. Videos recorded shortly after the incident showed the vehicle’s shattered rear window.The special cell and crime branch are jointly probing the case. Investigators are also examining whether the shooting was linked to a rival gang angle.
