Eyewitnesses recounted moments of panic and chaos as the shooting unfolded on the college campus.
Sarvesh Pandey, a classmate of the victim, said they initially mistook the gunshots for an explosion.
"We were inside the classroom when we heard a loud sound, like a bomb blast. It went off once, then again. At first, we thought someone was creating a disturbance. But when we rushed outside, we saw a student, Manjeet, firing bullets," he said.
"I ran towards my friend to save him, but the accused pointed the gun at me. I had to run for my life. When I tried again to reach him, the accused had already fled," Sarvesh said.
"Manjeet was not alone — there were one or two others with him.
He fired around four rounds," he said.
Another student present on the campus claimed that the accused continued firing even while escaping.
Visuals from outside the trauma centre showed emotionally distraught students breaking down upon learning about their friend's death, with several crying inconsolably. TNN
