Commercial flights to begin from Noida Airport on June 15
Lucknow: The commercial flights will begin from Noida International Airport at Jewar on June 15, marking the start of civil aviation services from the greenfield airport.
The launch will provide a modern and world-class aviation gateway to passengers, airlines and cargo operators in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas.
According to officials, the start of operations follows the airport’s inauguration and approval of the Aerodrome Security Programme by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. The approval certifies that the airport’s security systems, infrastructure and operational procedures meet regulatory requirements for commercial operations.
The first commercial flight from NIA will be operated by IndiGo. Akasa Air and Air India Express are also expected to begin services from the airport soon. Details regarding flight schedules, destinations and ticket bookings are to be announced by the airline.
Developed to cater to the growing demand for air travel, Noida Airport has a modern passenger terminal, advanced operational systems and multimodal connectivity. The airport is designed to offer efficient aircraft operations and improved passenger handling facilities while keeping operational costs competitive for airlines.
The launch of commercial services is expected to enhance regional and national air connectivity and support tourism, trade and investment in western Uttar Pradesh. The airport will ease congestion at the existing airports in the Delhi-NCR region.
The airport has been linked with major road and logistics infrastructure, including the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways, the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the proposed multimodal logistics hub, strengthening its role in regional transportation networks.
Noida International Airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited. The project follows sustainable design and operational principles, with plans aimed at achieving net-zero emissions over time.
At present, the airport has one runway and one terminal with an annual passenger handling capacity of about 12 million. As per the master plan, the airport’s capacity will be expanded in phases to handle over 70 million passengers annually, positioning it among India’s major aviation hubs in the future.
