NDA wins 26 seats, Congress 12 of 51 assembly bypolls across 18 states
Five months after its landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA on Thursday won 26 assembly seats in the bypolls held in 51 assembly constituencies across 18 states. The Congress, which was decimated in the general elections in May, bagged 12 seats in the byelections held on October 21.

Bypolls: BJP leading in both seats in Himachal
The ruling BJP is leading in both Dharamshala and Pachhad seats of Himachal Pradesh. After the first round of counting, Vishal Nehriya of the BJP is leading with 1,187 votes over his nearest rival Vijay Inder Karan (1543 votes) of the Congress in Dharamshala. In Pachhad, Reena Kashyap of the BJP is leading with 1,543 votes over her nearest rival Gangu Ram Musafir of the Congress after the first round of counting.

Punjab bypolls: Congress ahead in 2 seats; SAD, BJP leading in 1 each
The Congress is ahead in Jalalabad and Phagwara seats while the SAD and the BJP are leading in Dakha and Mukerian respectively in the bypolls to four assembly seats of Punjab, as per early trends.
Tamil Nadu byelection: After first round of counting, AIADMK candidate Muthamizh Selvan leads by 2,047 votes in Vikravandi. AIADMK - 5,312, DMK - 3265 NTK - 102.
