Burglars strike Army officer’s house in Vrindavan housing society, shops in Indiranagar
Lucknow: Unidentified burglars targeted the residence of a retired Army officer in Vrindavan housing society under the PGI police station limits. They spent several hours inside the house and used a loader vehicle to remove valuables. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which has now gone viral on social media. The incident happened on Friday morning and the FIR was registered on Saturday.The victim, identified as Dilip Gupta, retired from the Army and was away with his family in the Shuklaganj area of Kanpur. Police said the house was locked for two days. "Taking advantage of the absence of occupants, the burglars entered the premises around 1.30am on Thursday-Friday night, as seen in the CCTV footage," read the complaint.
Investigators said the accused first surveyed the house and then systematically searched each room. In the video footage, the thieves are seen calling a loader vehicle between 5.30am and 6am and calmly loading household goods and other valuables before leaving the colony. Residents of the society said the incident has created fear in the area, with many questioning the effectiveness of existing security arrangements and demanding increased night patrolling.Officials said an FIR was registered at the PGI police station. Another theft reported in IndiranagarA burglary was reported from the Indiranagar police station area on Friday. Police said they received information at around 8.40am about a theft in Rajaram complex near Balaji Chauraha.Preliminary inquiry revealed that unidentified thieves broke open the shutter locks of Rajesh Communication owned by Rajesh, and a Jan Aushadhi Kendra owned by Vijay Prakash Pandey during the intervening night of Dec 26-27. The burglars allegedly decamped with a customer's mobile phone, cash worth Rs15,000-20,000 from the mobile shop, Rs2,000 cash from the Jan Aushadhi centre and four containers of chyawanprash.
