Attempt to spoil celebrations will not be tolerated: Yogi

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday issued a firm warning against elements attempting to disrupt peace during upcoming festivals, asserting that "any attempt to spoil the colour of celebrations" will not be tolerated.Chairing a comprehensive review meeting on the state's law and order situation, the CM directed officials to deal strictly with anti-social elements during Holi, Mahashivratri and Ramzan.
Stressing zero tolerance towards lawlessness, the CM said maintaining communal harmony and public order during festivals was the govt's top priority.With Holi scheduled between March 2 and 4, particularly significant in the Braj region, he directed authorities to ensure that no disruptive elements infiltrate religious processions or public gatherings. "Those who attempt to spread frenzy or disturb peace must face strict action," he said.Holika Dahan, he instructed, should take place only at designated traditional locations and not on roads. Continuous monitoring of social media platforms was also ordered to curb rumours and inflammatory content.Reviewing preparations for Mahashivratri, he directed police and district administrations to ensure the safety of Kanwar pilgrims and prevent any untoward incidents during ‘Jalabhishek' rituals. He ordered 24x7 deployment of NDRF and SDRF teams to handle emergencies and ensure smooth crowd management, traffic regulation, parking facilities and women's safety.Adequate deployment of women police personnel and courteous conduct with devotees were specifically emphasised.CM directed officials to identify major causes of traffic congestion and implement long-term, practical solutions instead of temporary arrangements. He also instructed that loudspeakers at religious places should not exceed permissible sound limits or extend beyond premises. Violations, he warned, should invite immediate action. The use of DJs and high-volume sound systems after 10pm at weddings and social events was strictly prohibited.Expressing concern over rising begging activities around religious places, CM ordered effective measures to curb the practice and directed authorities to formulate proper rehabilitation plans for those involved.In view of the commencement of Ramzan and the likely celebration of Eid around March 21, he directed officials to maintain dialogue with religious leaders to preserve peace and harmony, ensuring that no new traditions were introduced.Preparations for Basantik Navratri beginning March 19 and Ram Navami thereafter should also be completed in time, he said.The CM also reminded district magistrates that the first phase of the upcoming Census would begin shortly and instructed them to ensure full preparedness. "We must remain extremely vigilant regarding security arrangements. Every department must discharge its responsibility with honesty and accountability," he said.
