KOZHIKODE: The IUML has conveyed its displeasure over the current state of affairs at the Calicut University to vice-chancellor M Abdul Salam.
The message was conveyed by Education minister P K AbduRabb who held talks with the vice-chancellor at the minister's residence in Parappanangadi on Saturday.
The move follows the decision taken at a meeting of IUML high power committee, held at the residence of IUML state president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal at Panakkad last Sunday, to serve an ultimatum to the VC for the frequent quarrels between him and syndicate members and for acting against the party's interest on several issues.

Though the IUML top brass had summoned the VC to the meeting to convey its strong disapproval on Sunday , the VC was asked to cancel the trip midway following the presence of large number of mediapersons at the meeting venue.
According to IUML sources, the VC has been told that the party views the continued discord between the syndicate and the VC seriously and that it would be forced to take strong action if the issues are not sorted out immediately.
The party's intervention follows the complaint submitted by IUML-affiliated syndicate members who objected to the 'autocratic' style in which the VC functioned. They had also alleged that he was taking decisions in a unilateral manner.

But what had annoyed the party top brass the most was the resignation of varsity registrar I P Abdul Razak, an IUML nominee to the post, just one month after assuming office following differences with the VC.
Muslim Students Federation (MSF), the student wing of IUML, had alleged that the registrar was forced to resign due to harassment at workplace and had even called for an inquiry by the state human rights commission into the harassment charges.
IUML syndicate members have also objected to the transfer of several employees belonging to the party union from the office of the VC and pro-vice chancellor in their complaint.
"The education minister has also instructed the vice-chancellor to take into confidence the four- member syndicate core committee, which was formed at the behest of the minister during the previous conciliatory talks, before taking major decisions," a syndicate member said.
