KANNUR: Expelled CPM leader V Kunhikrishnan who is contesting as independent in Payyannur has released further evidence supporting his allegations of martyr fund mismanagement by CPM leaders. Kunhikrishnan had released the ‘proof' in the form of bank statements on his Facebook page on Monday.
According to the bank statement, Rs 5 lakh was transferred from C V Dhanaraj martyr fund to then CPM Payyannur area secretary K Madhu.
Kunhikrishnan released documents showing that on Nov 3, 2016, Rs 40 lakh was withdrawn from the fund collected in the name of martyr Dhanaraj and converted into fixed deposits — Rs 20 lakh at the main branch of Payyannur Rural Bank and Rs 20 lakh at its Railway Gate branch — in eight deposits of Rs 5 lakh each.
He alleged that of these, four deposits in the main branch were transferred back to Dhanaraj's account after maturity on Nov 8, 2018. However, from the Rs 20 lakh in Railway Gate branch, only Rs 5 lakh was transferred back to Dhanaraj's account on the same date.
"What happened to the remaining Rs 15 lakh? Wasn't Rs 5 lakh transferred to party area committee account on April 20, 2019, another Rs 5 lakh on Oct 12, 2019, and the final Rs 5 lakh on Feb 7, 2020, and then withdrawn? When the account in the name of Dhanaraj still existed, why was this Rs 15 lakh moved to area committee account and withdrawn?" he asked in the Facebook post.
