AGRA: A 32-year-old house painter from UP's Muzaffarnagar allegedly killed his 25-year-old wife, Naurine, and poisoned his sons -- Ahil, 2 years, and Aksha, 6 months -- before taking his own life by hanging over Rs 1,500 ‘eidi'. Police said Irshad Ahmed and his family were found dead in a locked room on Tuesday morning, leaving the neighbourhood in shock.
SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma said, "Prima facie, Irshad had a heated argument with his wife Naurine after the former had given ‘eidi' (traditional gift during Eid) to his married sister without informing her. Forensic experts and a dog squad reached the place and the bodies were sent for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of deaths."
SSP Verma said all angles, including homicide and suicide, are being investigated, and appropriate legal steps will follow based on the findings.
"No major injury marks were found on their bodies. Foam was visible on the kids' mouth, raising suspicion of poisoning. We're now waiting for the postmortem report," an officer, privy to the case, said.
Irshad's brother Inam said, "Irshad's two sisters-in-law and mother-in-law had visited them briefly on Saturday, and there was a heated argument over financial matters among them. Irshad had earlier given Rs 1,500 ‘eidi' to his sister, whose child was unwell. But his wife objected to it."
His neighbours said they heard a lot of noise till around 4am and then there was complete silence. Next morning, neighbours forced open the door to find Irshad hanging, and his wife lying on the floor with the two kids beside her.
